How Our Community Is Helping Students Start the School Year Ready to Learn

As summer begins, many families are preparing for a new school year by shopping for backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other school supplies. For some students, obtaining these basic supplies can be a challenge.
That’s why I am proud to support the FCUSD Soaring Scholars School Supply Drive through my service as a member of the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Folsom Cordova Schools.
The drive helps provide school supplies for foster and homeless students throughout the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. While many of us take a fully stocked backpack for granted, having the right supplies can make a meaningful difference in a student’s confidence and ability to focus on learning from the very first day of school.
One of the things I love most about our community is how quickly people step forward when there is a need. Local businesses, community organizations, school supporters, and residents are all working together to help students begin the school year prepared and ready to succeed.
What makes this effort especially encouraging is that helping doesn’t have to be expensive. A package of pencils, a notebook, a box of crayons, or a backpack can make a real difference for a student who needs support.
Throughout the next several weeks, I’ll be sharing updates from collection sites, community partners, and local businesses that are helping support this important effort.
